You can get MOTDs by mail, through a mailing list.
For System MOTDs (the ones that affect service):
To subscribe, send email to majordomo@panix.com; the subject is
irrelevant; the body should be
subscribe motd-system
To unsubscribe from the list, send email to majordomo@panix.com;
the subject is irrelevant; the body should be
unsubscribe motd-system
For Social MOTDs (about Panix events):
To subscribe, send email to majordomo@panix.com; the subject is
irrelevant; the body should be
subscribe motd-social
To unsubscribe from the list, send email to majordomo@panix.com;
the subject is irrelevant; the body should be
unsubscribe motd-social
