Sending Mail via Panix

The most common error in configuring an email client is leaving out the password for outbound (SMTP) mail. Almost all mail clients require that you enter your username, password, and server name TWICE - once for inbound and once for outbound. Some of them indicate that the password for outbound email is optional. It's not.

Set your outgoing mail server to: mail.panix.com

The outbound mail port is: 587

Your username is your ENTIRE email address, name@host.domain, so for example: johndoe@panix.com or janedoe@yourcompany.com

If your mail is part of a Panix shell account, use your regular Panix password. If not, use whatever password you chose for this mailbox.

If your mail client supports encryption, enable it - usually it's called encryption or TLS or SSL. The encryption type is password or simple password. If it doesn't support encryption... don't use it!
